Price Drives a Different Route to Sliding Sash Windows
I don’t have the cash to pay for what I consider to be good quality bespoke windows so I’ve spent a couple of years researching, building and testing my own design.

Double Glazed Sliding Sash "Test" Window
This where looking at the history of windows has been useful for me. It puts my own design work in to the history of sliding sash window development. It keeps the good points learn’t over hundreds of years and adds the latestest in a long line glazing technological developments.
I’ll be writing up all the issues and solutions I’ve choosen. For folks who fancy going down the self build route I’ll publish all the plans and details to construct their own timber, high performance, (double hung) sliding sash windows.
Going down this route will need advanced DIY skills or rudimentary wood working skills. Speciallist tooling is kept at an ecconomical minimum. It’s a project I’m sure many people can tackle sucessfully, especially now I’ve spent the time working out the design.
Leave me a comment if you're interested and I'll keep you up to date with progress.
